Rene Rancourt begins singing the national anthem before Boston Bruins games at Boston Garden.

A native of Lewiston, Maine, Boston University graduate, and opera singer affiliated with the Boston Conservatory of Music, Rancourt gets the job after responding to an invitation from organist John Kiley to sing for the Bruins by asking, “Where do they play?” He goes on to sings at all but one of the team’s home games over the next 20+ seasons and is honored at his last regular season performance at the TD Garden on April 8, 2018.
